Timber processing

Import of timber.

The import of timber is part of our operations. We mainly import from Latvia and Lithuania, but occasionally from Sweden and Norway. This primarily involves pallet materials used in our production or hardwood, which is used as supports for the production items of aluminum companies.

Pallet production.

We produce pallets of all sizes, whether standard sizes or custom-made. Our clients include companies such as Brim, Samherji, Eimskip, Samskip, Lýsi, Elkem, Rio Tinto, Arctic Prime Fisheries, DFFU, Útgerðafélag Reykjavíkur, Hvalur, Ice Fish, Iraco, Fiskvinnslan Kambur, Kuldaboli, Marúlfur, Royal Iceland, BEWI Iceland, along with many other esteemed partners.

Quality control.

We are constantly working to improve the quality of our production. This involves conducting quality inspections of all our suppliers. For every imported container of pallet materials, an inspection of the materials is carried out upon receipt. Our foreign supplier then receives a report following the inspection, documenting any deviations, if present. The quality inspection of raw materials includes measuring moisture levels, visual inspection, and verifying whether the materials meet the specified size measurements.
Quality control also takes place during the production of the pallets. This involves checking whether the pallets are correctly nailed together, the proper materials and nails are used, moisture levels are measured, and last but not least, whether the HT (heat treatment) mark is intact.

Recycling.

We recycle used pallets by dismantling them in specialized machines and repurposing the usable materials to build new pallets. During the recycling and pallet production process, a significant amount of wood waste is generated, which we shred and either further grind or process into wood pellets. Both products are used as bedding for horses and have proven highly effective. Additionally, we have coarsely shredded wood packed in large bags for horse owners, which they use as flooring in riding halls.

We sell the bedding in 20kg bags as well as large sacks weighing approximately 550–600kg.
